**Answering the Call to Serve:**
When Mingma was just 16, she started working with groups that help others (NGOs). She saw how things like giving blood and free health checkups could really change lives. But the big turning point came after the big earthquake in 2015. Mingma went to Yanglakot village, which was hit hard by the earthquake. The challenges she faced there made her fully commit to helping others.
At the age of 20, Mingma, along with her friends, organized a 7-day handwashing program in Rara. It was a challenging task as many doubted their abilities due to their young age. However, the program turned out to be a success, and the community expressed great satisfaction with their efforts.
She helped a student from Yanglakot go to Kathmandu for more studies, which was a big deal because people were scared to send their children away. She also did a 7-day handwash program in Rara, showing that even small groups of young people can make a big difference.
**The Birth of Furlima Foundation:**
The foundation is named “Furlima” as a special way to remember Mingma’s late mother, Furli Sherpa. Mingma had a dream of creating a perfect society, and she wanted the organization to reflect her mother’s name – “Furli” to honor her and “Ma” which means mother in Nepali.
**Passion and Priorities:**
Furlima Foundation is Mingma’s top priority. Even though she enjoys traveling, trying different foods, reading, and spending time with children, Furlima is always the most important.
**Envisioning Impact and Legacy:**
Mingma dreams of Furlima Foundation making a lasting impact. She wants fewer people to feel so sad that they harm themselves, more people to have good mental health, and everyone to get the chance to follow their dreams with good training.
**Advice for Changemakers:**
Mingma’s advice to people who want to help is simple – join Furlima Foundation or any group doing real, helpful work.
