Buddha Jayanti 2569: A Day of Compassion and Service
On the sacred occasion of Buddha Jayanti 2569, Furlima Foundation held a Free Drinking Water Distribution Program on May 12, 2025. The event took place at Boudha Stupa. It was organized in collaboration with the Lions Club and Leo Club of Kathmandu Jhyarung Khasyor. Altogether, the event honored the teachings of Lord Buddha by offering refreshment and kindness to devotees , pilgrims and visitors.



Led by Alina Tamang with Purpose on Buddha Jayanti
This thoughtful Buddha Jayanti initiative was led by Alina Tamang, the Managing Director of Furlima Foundation. Alina is not only an internationally certified makeup artist and youth educator but also a dedicated community worker. Her passion for social upliftment and hands-on leadership have played a vital role in turning such compassionate ideas into reality.
Volunteer Participation Overview
A total of 90 cases of water were distributed during the Buddha Jayanti 2569 initiative, thanks to the combined efforts of committed volunteers from various organizations.
From Furlima Foundation, four dedicated individuals actively participated: Shradha Lamichhane, Furba Sherpa, Diparsan Gurung, and Saurav Malla Thakuri, who also served as the event’s IT Head.
Moreover, Lions Club of Kathmandu Jhyarung Khasyor contributed four enthusiastic members. In addition, Leo Club of Kathmandu Jhyarung Khasyor was represented by three volunteers. Supporting further, Leo Club of Kathmandu Leadership for Change mobilized six dynamic participants.
Lastly, six students from Manaslu World College also joined as volunteers, bringing youthful energy and a spirit of learning to the event. Together, these groups helped ensure smooth distribution and a meaningful community presence.
Spreading Relief, One Cup at a Time
Starting at 1:00 PM on Buddha Jayanti, Furlima Foundation volunteers, dressed in official t-shirts, gathered with dedication to distribute clean drinking water. Furthermore, their presence added warmth and purpose to the sacred surroundings. As part of this thoughtful Buddha Jayanti initiative, they served pilgrims, devotees, and visitors at Bouddha Stupa’s main entrance. Because of the hot afternoon, the refreshment became even more meaningful for those in attendance. Though seemingly simple, this act held deep significance. It echoed the teachings of Lord Buddha—promoting peace, unity, and selfless service. In addition, the event was thoughtfully documented by Gaurav Gurung, who captured touching visuals and candid moments that showcased the spirit of compassion in action. These heartfelt glimpses into the sacred day will further serve to inspire acts of kindness across the community.

By offering water with love and intention, we honored the values of compassion and peace that Lord Buddha stood for.
