Today marks the fifth death anniversary of Furli Sherpa, the beloved mother of Mingma Sherpa, founder of Furlima Foundation.
On this solemn yet meaningful day, we pause to reflect on her life, her values, and the remarkable legacy she left behind, one that continues to inspire our work and our mission every single day.

A Mother Who Inspired a Movement
Furli Sherpa was more than just a loving mother, she was a woman of quiet strength, kindness, and deep compassion for others. Her unwavering support for her daughter’s dreams and her constant encouragement to help those in need became the foundation of what Furlima Foundation stands for today.
When Mingma Sherpa envisioned creating a platform to serve marginalized communities from children in need to elderly in orphanages, she was inspired by her mother’s values.
It is no coincidence that the Foundation bears her name , “Furlima”, a heartfelt tribute to the woman who taught us to lead with empathy and service.

Our Journey Inspired by Her Values
In these past years, Furlima Foundation has carried forward the spirit of Furli Sherpa through various initiatives:
- School Children Programs: We’ve worked with school children, bringing them not only educational materials but also moments of joy, laughter, and encouragement, just as Furli Sherpa would have wished for every child.
- Mother’s Day Celebrations in Orphanages: On special occasions like Mother’s Day, we’ve reached out to elderly women living in orphanages, many of whom long for the warmth of family — and shared moments of love and remembrance in honor of Furli Sherpa.
These are just glimpses of how her philosophy of caring for others continues to shape what we do.

Furli Smriti Saptarangi Samman: Honoring Her Legacy
In 2080 B.S., we had the privilege of organizing the “Furli Smriti Saptarangi Samman”, a special event dedicated to honoring her legacy and recognizing individuals who embody the same selfless spirit she exemplified.
It was an evening filled with stories of resilience, inspiration, and heartfelt remembrance, showing how far her influence has reached in shaping lives beyond her own family.

To Mingma Sherpa: Carrying Her Mother’s Torch
None of this would have been possible without the vision, determination, and courage of Mingma Sherpa.
Furli Sherpa’s teachings live on through Mingma, who continues to inspire all of us at the Foundation to serve with love and integrity.
Her mother’s memory is a constant reminder that no act of kindness is ever too small and that even one person’s values can spark a movement to change countless lives.

The Furlima Foundation team, along with Mingma Sherpa and a local representative provided sports equipment to Shree Jaldevi Secondary School.
